Technology has revolutionized new cultural and leisure agendas. On one hand, there is the talk of certain democratization due to the great offer and greater access to quality content at a lower price through online platforms. On the other hand, with the aim of segmenting the population to offer specific entertainment, big companies in the sector use data and biological information of their users. Our DNA is already used to propose “tailor-made” playlists or for the datification of our consumption habits to change the movie plot. We have more quality cultural offer, but control and leisure are increasingly linked.
What are the consequences of this new situation? From the point of view of the industry, has the sector become precarious with this democratization? From the point of view of the consumer, what intimacy plots are we willing to give to the big companies in exchange for entertainment? This talk reflects on the use and impact of technology to model the cultural and leisure sector.
